interviewing, one of the key questions I ask them is, “why should I hire
you?” I as a career consultant, coach and counselor need to answer that
question myself. There are a lot of so called experts out there, so why
should you hire me? Here are some of the reasons:
Expertise in career assessment as well as the job market. There are
many career counselors who can interpret test results, but what good is
it if they can’t help you get a job? I have more than twenty years of
experience of helping experienced professional and entry level
individuals get jobs through running job fairs, job databases and
utilizing my extensive personal network. I currently created and
administer a listserv of jobs that more than 1,000 professionals
subscribe to. I see the ups and downs of the job market and help job
seekers adapt to it.
Expertise in training people for networking and job interviewing. Many
counselors can inform you conceptually about interviewing, but I provide
you with a behavioral approach to conducting networking and job
interviews as well as how to network at live events.
Most counselors can talk about networking, but do not provide a large
network of their own. I have a network of over 2,000 people and it’s
growing every day that you would have access to. I have a strong
presence on Linked In and Facebook, two of the best on-line networking
sources.
